How the program is neurodiversity-affirming

Charge Your Mind is designed to be neurodiversity-affirming. This means we recognise and respect that every brain works differently. Rather than trying to change a child to fit neurotypical expectations, the program supports children and families to better understand how their own nervous system works.

The program is neurodiversity-affirming because it:

• Helps children and caregivers explore their individual neurotype and how it relates to regulation
• Emphasises that there are no “right” or “wrong” responses within the program
• Allows children to use language and concepts that feel natural to them, such as battery levels or numbers instead of naming emotions
• Focuses on environmental supports and understanding the nervous system, not just changing a child’s behaviour
• Was developed with input from neurodivergent families
• Was created by founders with both lived experience of neurodivergence and strong advocacy for the neurodivergent community

Charge Your Mind is built on the belief that when children and parents understand how their nervous system works, they can create more supportive environments and stronger connections.
